FAQs

  • What COVID-19 precautions are in place?

Please see the Southville Clinic website for the current guidance when visiting this site. Do not attend for an in-person appointment if you have COVID symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who has.

  • What do I need to bring to the appointment?

Please bring your baby’s red book and your yellow maternity notes if you still have them. If your baby is having bottle feeds, then please bring one with you. If you or your baby are taking any medication, please bring a list including doses. You may want to bring one person with you, such as your partner or a family member.

  • Is your clinic accessible?

Yes, the clinic is accessible for persons with disabilities. Please let me know in advance if you will need assistance.

  • Is there parking?

Yes, there is free parking at the back of the Southville Clinic building. There is also paid for on-street parking in nearby streets and the car park at Wapping Wharf is just a short walk away.

  • What can I expect during the appointment?

I aim to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. I will need to take a full medical history including details of your birth, medications, etc., and I may ask to examine your breasts and to examine your baby. I may need to observe a breastfeed, but I understand that sometimes babies have different ideas!

  • How do I pay for the appointment?

Payment is taken at the end of the appointment. I accept payment by card (iZettle) and by BACS bank transfer.

  • How do video consultations work?

Video appointments are done via zoom, which is easy to use either on your computer or phone (using the app). Due to the limitations of video consultations I will sometimes as you to come for an in-person appointment first

  • What follow up do you provide?

For appointments after your baby has arrived, 2 weeks of follow up support is included. You can message me by email or WhatsApp. I will aim to respond as soon as I can but if you have not had a reply in 24 hours, please do try again.

If you wish to be seen in-person again then a follow up appointment can be booked.

  • How do I give a compliment?

If you would like to give some positive feedback about the care you have received, please email it to sofia@breastfeedingmedicine.co.uk. Please let me know if you give permission for it to be shared with prospective clients on my website.

  • How do I make a complaint?

In the unlikely event that you are not satisfied with any part of the care you have received, please inform me as soon as possible. The issue should initially be raised during the consultation or by telephone. If your concern is not resolved, then you may write a complaint letter and email it to sofia@breastfeedingmedicine.co.uk. I will acknowledge your complaint within 7 days and respond within 30 days. I can also provide more information about the complaints procedure on request.

Please be assured that any complaint you make, verbal or written, will be treated in the strictest confidence and will have no effect on the treatment and care you receive. You can ask someone to lodge the complaint on your behalf, however I am unable to provide any medical information to someone else without your written consent first.
